Next, pour your elbow macaroni into a pot of lightly salted boiling water and cook until al dente.
While waiting, heat a saucepan and add 3 tbsp of unsalted butter and melt it.
Once it melts, add the flour and whisk over medium heat for one to two minutes.
Pour in the milk a little bit at a time while whisking until smooth and creamy.
After it thickens, add the shredded cheese one at a time and whisk until smooth and melted.
Finally, turn off the heat and add the cooked elbow macaroni.
Stir until well combined.
