With all the cooking involved this Holiday season, a pot holder will surely be useful.
You want it to be festive as possible so verify you use your green and red fabric scraps.

Take another one and lay it next to the first one.
If its long, cut it to the same length using your scissors.
Put it right sides together and sew a quarter of an inch seam allowance.
Open it and press with your seam roller.
Continue doing this until you fill-up the square batting with your scraps.
Second method:
Its almost the same process as the first method.
Add the strip one at a time, and finish the whole block first before quilting it.
Step 3:
Once you are done with the block, take your ruler and rotary cutter.
Cut it into an 8 1/2 block.
Step 4:
Get your insulated lining and cut it into an 8 1/2 square.
Step 5:
Take your backing fabric and place it right-side down.
Place the lining and block on top.
Grab some clips and clip all layers together.
Do a basting stitch around the edges, so it will not slide once you put the binding.
Step 6:
Take one of your scraps and cut a 2 by 4 1/2.
Press in the edges a quarter of an inch then press it in half.
Sew right along the edge.
Step 7:
Flip the pot over.
Fold the strap in half, place it on the top corner and clip it in place.
Bind your pot holder.
