I had fun making this for a friend, and Im sure youll enjoy it as well.
For this pattern, you will be making two blocks!
The first block is the square in a square, and the second one is achevron block.
You might already be familiar with those blocks.
If thats the case, this project will be easier for you.
If you have them at home, you might already start with this quilt.
Place them right sides together and sew all the way around the outside edge with 1/4 seam allowance.
Once done, cut in half diagonally from corner to corner on both directions.
Trim the triangles into 3 squares.
Press the seams, open, and press toward the dark side.
Now you have half square triangles.
repeat with your other squares.
Step 2:
Make the square in a square block.
Sew them in rows first, press, and sew to make the block.
You need 24 pieces of this block.
Step 3:
Make the chevron block.
Get four of the half-square triangles that you made using a different color.
Sew them together to make the block.
You need 18 pieces of this block.
Step 4:
For the first row, arrange 6 of the chevron blocks.
double-check they are going in the same direction.
For the second row, arrange 6 of the square in a square blocks.
Repeat with the other rows.
Sew the rows together to make the quilt.
