To make one block, all you need is a square and eight pieces ofhalf-square triangles.

So, how do you make HSTs?
Thats pretty much all you should probably do.
after you grab the squares and half-square triangles, you are ready to assemble.
Step 2:
Get one 10 square from fabric A and fabric B.
Place them right sides together, then draw diagonal lines from corner to corner in both directions.
Sew a 1/4 seam on both sides of each diagonal line.
Cut in half diagonally and horizontally, then along both diagonals.
Set the seams and press each one open towards the dark side.
You will have 8 half-square triangles.
Repeat with the other squares.
Step 3:
Assemble the block.
Get one 4.5 square from fabric C and 8 half-square triangles.
Arrange the blocks just like in the photo below.
Your half-square triangles will create a windmill look around the center square.
Repeat with the other half-square triangles.
