you could make two different blocks with this piece just by changing the directions of the sashing!

I definitely recommend this if you want to learn different quilting techniques.

Step 2:

Arrange the 5 squares into a 9-patch just like in the photo below.

Sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance.

Once done, press it flat.

Repeat with the other squares.

Repeat with the other blocks.

Take 4 pieces of 2 1/2 background square.

Put 2 on both ends of the gray strip.

Sew the top first diagonally from corner to corner, then do the bottom.

ensure you sew them in the same direction.

Cut 1/4 away from the seam and press it open.

Do the same with the blue strip, but sew the white squares in the exact opposite direction.

Once done, sew the blue and white strip units together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance.

Step 5:

Cut blue and gray 2 1/2 strips and sew them together.

After that, cut them into 2 1/2 intervals.

Finger-press them with gray on the top.

Sew two pieces together to make a four-patch.

check that the colors are alternating.

You need 20 of this block.

Next, add the sashing blocks in between the blocks.

Lastly, put the four-patch in the middle.

Sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance.
