This quilt block is quick and easy to make.

You will be using the magic 8 method to create eight half-square triangles at a time.

The HSTs will be used to make the hourglass blocks.

Easy Hour Glass Wreath Quilt Materials

after you snag turned them into hourglass blocks, you are going to sew them in pairs.

If you are already familiar with hourglass blocks, this block will be a breeze.

Now you have the center block.

How to Make Hour Glass Wreath Quilt

Out of the 2 1/2 strips, cut 2 1/2 squares.

You need for of 2 1/2 squares for your block and set aside the others for your cornerstones.

Step 2:

Make half-square triangles.

Lay a white square on top of a colored square.

Draw diagonal line from corner to corner in both directions then in the middle horizontally and vertically.

Sew 1/4 away from both sides of the lines.

Cut directly on the lines.

On the back of half of the half-square triangles, draw a diagonal line across the two fabrics.

Place them on top of the other half-square triangles without the line in the opposite direction.

Sew 1/4 away from both sides of the lines.

Cut in the line.

Square the hour glass into 4 inches, then press them open.

Sew the hourglass blocks in pairs color to color.

You need 4 pairs.

Snowball one corner of the white squares.

Trim and press them open.

Step 4:

Arrange them just like in the photo below.

Sew them together to form the block.
