Laying up the strips to form the padlock block

Lastly, cut the final strip into four 4 1/2 squares.

(you’ve got the option to also stack your fat quarters and cut multiple layers simultaneously.)

Now, assemble the block.

Next, select strips in a different print with the same measurements.

Lay them out the same as in the photo below.

Sew these together with a 1/4 seam allowance to create the block.

Just lay your blocks together and rotate every other block, 90 degrees.
