Next, using a half-rectangle ruler, use the 9 mark and cut your half rectangle out.
(Snip off the dog ears as you go.)
Then, rotate the mat around and cut your second half-rectangle piece.
Youll end up with a total of two half rectangles per each 5 x 10 rectangle.
You will end up with a 4 1/2 x 9 rectangle.
After all your blocks are complete, start laying them up in a 6 by 7 block layout.
Sew the blocks together to form rows, then sew those rows together to complete the quilt top.
