Last weekend I wanted to do a small project that I could finish in just a few hours.
I saw this beautiful piece byLiza Decoron Youtube and knew this was the right one.
I love how quick this patchwork centerpiece mat is.

Plus, it was so easy to do too!
Would you believe this is just made from half-square triangles?
Yes, the block starts from a four-patch of half-square triangles.
Place background squares on top of each one, right sides together.
Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner to make triangles on both stacks.
Sew 1/4 away from both sides of the lines.
Press them flat then trim them into 5.25 x 5.25 squares.
Step 3:
Arrange them in a four-patch just like in the photo below.
Sew them together and press the block flat.
Step 4:
Cut the block 1.5 from the center seam on all sides.
Step 5:
Flip the middle parts on all sides to make a star in the middle.
you’re free to also flip the corners so that the small triangles are on the outside corners.
Sew them in rows first, then press them flat.
After that, sew the rows together.
ensure that the seams are aligned.
Once done, press it flat and trim it into an 8.5 x 8.5 block.
Repeat the whole process to make a total of four blocks.
Step 6:
Sew the four blocks together and press it flat.
Quilt, add binding, and enjoy!
