Cutting the layer cake to make charm pack squares

Learn how to make it by watching the video tutorial below for the step by step instructions.

Make twenty pieces of this.

With those 7 1/2 squares, cut them twice at a 45-degree diagonal to make four smaller half-square triangles.

Piecing the pieces together to make the quilt block

After this, cut one 4 x WOF strip and subcut it into eight 4 squares.

With those 4 squares, cut them once at a 45-degree diagonal.

Subcut the remaining yardage into 2 1/2 strips for finishing borders.

Step 2

Now, piece your blocks together.

Take five different prints and 5 squares from your charm pack and place them in a cross pattern.

Next, take four of the smaller half-square triangles, and place them on the corners.

Sew everything together on a diagonal, then sew the diagonal rows together until you finish the block.

Trim the excess and your block should measure 13 square.

Repeat these steps to make a total of four quilt blocks.

Step 3

after you grab all your quilt blocks, sew them together into one row.
