Step 2:
Cut 1 1/2 from the center from all four sides.
Step 3:
Swap the top corner squares, then swap the bottom squares.

Sew them back together.
Press the seams flat.
Open them and place on two opposite colored corners.
Sew directly on the lines then trim the excess.
Now you have the block.
