Dont you love old Southern recipes?
I grew up with my grandma and she always prepared these delicious dishes for me.
One of the first recipes that she taught me was squash Alabama casserole.

Its delicious, comforting, and very easy to make.
You have to cook this for dinner Im sure your whole family will love this.
Fill a pot with water, then add the squash and some salt.
Let it come to a boil and cook until tender.
Once done, drain the water.
Step 2:
Add 1/2 stick of butter in a skillet and place over heat.
Once melted, add the chopped onion and pepper.
Saute until softened and turn off the heat.
Step 3:
In a bowl, add 1 cup of mayonnaise and 2 eggs.
Mix until well combined.
Next, add 2 cups of shredded cheese and sauteed onion and pepper.
Mix again until incorporated.
Step 4:
Add the cooked squash and a little bit of black pepper.
Mix everything well, then transfer to a casserole dish.
Spread evenly and smoothen the top with a spatula.
Step 5:
Place inside the oven and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 minutes.
After the first 20 minutes, take it out and sprinkle the crushed Ritz crackers on top.
Place it inside the oven and continue baking until crusty.
