For the lighter shades, subcut them into 2 1/2 x 12 and 2 1/2 x 14.
Then, place two 2 1/2 x 10 strips to the one side and top of the 10 square.
Sew these two on, pressing in between.
Sew and press nicely.
Now, cut 16 square from your background fabric, then cut this square in half diagonally.
Set these pieces in between the blocks to fill the gap once you lay them up.
